SBIRT in Schools (6 hours)

This training provides information on conducting verbal substance use screenings according Massachusetts law and approved practice standards. Learners will be introduced to the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) in Schools program, including steps to implement and maintain a verbal substance use screening program, use of the CRAFFT II screening tool, and Motivational Interviewing skills for Brief Interventions. This workshop is designed to train members of a school’s SBIRT screening team and is open to all school professionals who want to learn about SBIRT. This is one of four training workshops mandated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health in order to be licensed as a School Nurse.
